Daybook?

I've read Stephanie's daybook for a while now and I really like the idea....I think I want to TRY this .....and see how it goes :)

For Today... October 5th, 2009

Outside my window... Gray and breezy, kinda cold and damp....not my favorite fall weather.

I am thinking... about everything BUT my test tomorrow

I am thankful for... good friends who don't write me off when my life is a mess

I am wearing... my yucky green chucks, comfy jeans, "church isn't a place to pick up girls" pink shirt and my black pull over sweater

I am remembering... being in this state of mind before

I am going... to have to push my self to stay focused on what is at hand

I am reading... a lot of nursing notes and a book called Dr. Ida that Libby loaned me :)

I am hoping... to someday be able to thrive and not just survive through what comes my way

On my mind... the future and graduation....and then what? woosh.

From the learning rooms... trying to continue to be more organized so I can be ready for each day

Noticing that... something is "off" in the suite today....I don't know what it is yet though

Pondering these words... 'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.' Jeremiah 29:11-13......really trying the praying and listening part....

From the Kitchen... very disappointed in the v8 butternut squash soup....it tastes like bad canned tomatoes... :(

Around the house... I like that everything is picked up and put away and the whole suite smells clean

One of my favorite things... partridge stew......wouldn't that be good right now :)

From my photo journal... what I should be doing right now...

Underway and beginning to breathe

Man, I am just BAD at blogging! lol

Well, my year has thankfully settled into a rhythm...not really a very slow or relaxing one, but a rhythm none the less! I LOVE being an RA and really getting to interact with a lot more students than last year. It is such a rewarding job but man there are definitely some not so fun parts. For Example: having students who decide this is not for them and go home, it is hard to watch and realize that sometimes there is nothing I could have done to change their minds....but there is always the "what if i had..." in the back of my mind. Then there are the great phone calls that a toilet is overflowing and could I please call maintenance...except maintenance doesn't work weekends...so I can stick an "out of order" sign on the door until monday and make the guys use another bathroom (because the toilet has been plugged and overflowing so long it has gone from one end to the other!) or i can go track down a plunger, unplug the toilet, and then mop up the whole floor.......they better enjoy their clean bathroom!!!! I won't lie, it is intimidating being a female RA on a majority male campus (and all the rooms on my hall are men's rooms) but I'm really blessed to have this opportunity to get to know them.

Nursing this year is still hard, but it sure feels a lot different! It is nice to kind of have a handle on what to expect for test material. The instructors for this year are SOOOOOO different from last year, everyone is wicked soft spoken and really is just trying to help you along, every step of the way. O O O! Second year you have a different advisor from first year....and mine is my last advisor's sister! How funny is that? BUT there is a big difference between the two....Eileen is MUCH more relaxed and sweet than Janice....it is hard to believe they are related!

Big nursing test on Tuesday, back to the books!

I Don't Understand

How can life be soooo exhausting sometimes?  I don't get it.  This past week and especially today has been quite rough.  While I was digging through a card box yesterday I found a quote that was quite fitting: "If adversity builds character, yours has been getting quite a workout lately".  I can only pray that I will learn and become stronger in Christ.  The fight to remain sensitive to Him and not to snap back at the people and circumstances of the day is a constant struggle for me.  I need help from Him.

It's almost April?!?!?!

When did that happen!?!?

It is hard to believe my first year of nursing is almost over, as well as my 3rd year of college. I can barely comprehend graduating in a year. I don't feel near prepared enough to actually be nursing on clients with no instructor to bounce questions off! I'm doing well in my classes, so far I'm on track for my goal of a B in nursing this semester, but it doesn't mean I don't stress about it!!! haha

I like being back in Maine and closer to my family, but there is a part of me that still itches to be somewhere else sometimes. Maine will always be home, I'm just not sure I will always be home. But, I now have friends scattered throughout the US so I guess I could take off and visit them and nurse in their areas for a while, aye? Or go to India and work with the hospitals and out reaches there! (Slumdog Millionaire got me thinking about that one!!!)

For the time being though, I'm enjoying most of my time here, I've been blessed to meet some more friends here and I would be lost without them. I'm applying for an RA position next year. I would love to do that!!! It is a little nerve wracking during the process though because my mind is thinking, "What if I don't get it? Then what?". I'm also praying about my summer job, the economy up here isn't looking so hot and there have been temporary cut backs and pay cuts at the mill. God only knows if they'll actually hire students or not. The applications are up.......but that isn't much reasurrance, last summer we went all the way through orientation before they told us we'd be laid off for a week!!!

My spring break starts on Friday, I can't wait to go home and spend time with my family and friends downstate! And to sleep in a comfy bed that doesn't have springs poking me in the back!!

In April my friends Adam, Estella, maybe Pam, and I are going to PEI to visit a friend of Adam's and to see the Watoto children's choir! We are wicked excited!!!

I can still barely wrap my mind around only having about 7 more weeks until we are out of school, but I guess I better keep focused!!

Hugs, love, e.
