Well, as of right now it has yet to stop snowing...it has snowed for more than a week, although the accumulation is not much. (probably close to 8 inches) It is mostly just enough to keep the sidewalks slick! I am loving having my Yaktracks, they are eally grippy and keep the slipperyness under my feet instead of on my behind! Believe it or not, in this pic there are actually 2 soccer fields, a baseball field, houses and a firestation as well as a bunch of kids sliding on the hill! It was snowing so hard though that I could only hear them!
I had Chem lab today, it was good, we had to measure reaction rates and then plot the data on a graph. My lab partner is nice, too, that helps. I am really liking my classes, they are going well, and my professors are great! I have my first bio lab on Thursday so we'll see how that goes, I know some people who are in it but I'm not sure how many.
School is pretty much in full swing, it is hectic but good. I have to go draw a picture for my printmaking class...I like that kind of homework! Love you and miss you!
PS. Please pray for Alissa and her family. A great uncle died last week and Alissa had to go to the funeral (her first time to a funeral)by herself. Then when she got home she found out her favorite uncle only has a few weeks to live. Very rough weekend for her.
Hello all!!! I'm sorry I didn't get this updated sooner! I was having difficulties remembering my password/username....story of my life! haha, oh well, now that that is fixed, I can update you on my rather slow and relaxing Christmas break! :)
I had a pretty nice visit with my family and my extended family...it was nice to see everyone again! I got to go skiing at Sugarloaf on one day....Maine day (Wednesdays)of course (because it is $26 on weds) and had a blast with Hill, Whit, Quinc, and Dustin, they boarded and I skiied. On the way home we got a little lost...almost ended up in Quebec (not really, just The Forks which is just north of Caratunk if you know where that is! Almost Canada!) haha It was nice to be home but it was also nice to be back at school...I missed the people alot....wish I could just have everyone around me all the time...would make life more enjoyible I think!
Well, my classes this semester seem like they are going to be good...I like all of my professors and the subject mater is interesting. I had a hole in my schedule and needed a one credit class to fill it up so I decided to take printmaking. I think it is going to be a really neat class, the proffesor is a little old man who used to work at the Carnegie museum...sounds like he is widely known in this area as he was asked to put together another show for a gallery. His name is Dr Callaboyias, but we call him Dr. C. :)
It has snowed since we got back and our hall decided to plan a sliding (or I guess the rest of the world calls it sledding) party for tomorrow night with our brother hall. It will be fun, I went out for a bit last night, it is perfect conditions... :)
I miss you all and think of you often! Hugs to you all! E.
Almost done! 2 Finals down and 2 to go! I am so excited to be coming home! A month seems like so long but I know from how fast this past one flew that it is really only the blink of an eye. My Bio and Huma finals went okay, and now I have my chem one in the morning and my econ one one weds. morning.....and then HOME!!!
We went to the Sandy Lake Weslyan church again today. I like it there, the people are nice and the music/pastor are good too. Probably my favorite church so far. But Mt. Olive is close behind. I like the pastor at Mt. Olive better but the music at Sandy Lake is nicer... I don't know...it is hard to find somewhere that fits and feels like I belong. I can't wait to be home at my church.
It is hard to believe it is almost christmas, although my chocolate countdown calandar tell me it is only 8 days away. It doesn't seem like Christmas could be so close!
Well, time to buckle down and study hard for my chem final, it is hard because this is the first multiple choice chem test we've had and I have no idea how to prepare for it. I don't know whether it will be calculations and then I'll have to pick the right answer or if it is primarily over concepts. I'm praying the latter because that is my strong point. I'm not so good at calculations, my head gets all jumbled and I can't remember which formulas go with which problem types. Oh well. God has it in control.
Hugs to you all! Love, me :)
Well, we are winding up to Finals week. My last day of class is tomorrow! Wow, I can't believe how fast it flew....yet how long it seems that I have been here.
It seems like I've been here forever because: I can't imagine life without the girls on my hall, I need a hug from my mom but it seems like eternity since I have had one, I can walk to the bathroom with my eyes closed and not run into the wall :), I have a clean room, I've lost 5lbs due to the "delicious" bon apetit food service, and I can't imagine living without straws plastered all over my walls!
Yet it seems like I have just arrived because: I still don't know all the girls on my hall half as well as I would like, I still feel like a kindegartener stuck in the high school on some days, and well, I honestly couldn't have gone to bed after 12:30AM for 4 months, could I? It seems like my parents just dropped me off yesterday, and that I've actually been to walmart more than 3 times in 4 months, haven't I? I guess not.
Lisa and I lost of first and last badminton game of the season tonight. We played really well but the team we played was by far the best we've played all season. We had fun though and it helped to break up the week and keep us motivated for classes.
The snow is gone and the temp is back up in the 50's. The students are mourning it's disappearance, no more late night(early morning) sliding parties! Katherine (my roomate) and I could here them laughing and screaming all night long last week. The best hill on campus is just on the other side of the street from our window. On the other had though, I am glad it is supposed to be warm because that way hopefully we will have good weather to drive back to Maine in next Wednesday.
Well, I missed dinner, looks like campbell's is cooking tonight! haha oh well it will feel good to my throat.
OH!!!! Exciting! I was talking last week....(on a blah day when I wasn't feeling good and when I was kinda homesick).... that I really wanted to make Taco Soup! Well, I didn't have time to go to the store AND make it so I resigned myself to just dreaming about it. This afternoon though when I opened my door there was a bag in the hall that said "Pelkey" (that's what they call me here).....I could tell by the paper it was from Alma Jean. It was all the ingredients I needed to make Taco Soup! :) :) :) I was sooooooo excited and ran to find Alma Jean, but she wasn't around and she isn't back yet. Happy Happy!!!!
Time to hit the books....and try to beat some of this knowledge into my thick skull....
Hugs and love you all! E.
